The Living Rainforest | Berkshire
The Living Rainforest was started 13 years ago in a rural village in Berkshire. The centre now runs as an independent charity. It is a live rainforest growing in glasshouses covering 15,000 square feet with visits of over 70,000 people every year, including up to 15,000 children on school visits.
The Living Rainforest is one of the first such projects in Europe and brings together animals and plants, using them to educate visitors and schools about humanity’s impact on the environment. The educational work is aimed at both formal and informal audiences about how human culture and economies react with our ecosystems in a practical way.
You will find exotic plants, many animals and also free flying birds. It strives to make learning about life fun. The many visitors who come to the center are immersed in real rainforest experiences.
The interpretation center links plants, animals, ecosystems, human needs, economies and of course cultures. It is highly interesting as well as educational. The centers aim is to delight and challenge and build on the incredible biological and cultural diversity of planet Earth.
It looks like a brilliant place and I hope you go and explore the center for yourself. Click here for more information, special events and directions: www.livingrainforest.org
