BROOME, “STAIRCASE TO THE MOON”:
DATE: 4 March 2008 to 28 October 2008 Confirmed Event
This natural phenomenon is caused when the full moon rises over the exposed mudflats at extremely low tide. It creates an awesome optical illusion of a staircase reaching up to the moon.
Staircase to the moon occurs from March to October along the North West Coast. I believe that the best viewing spots are at Hearson Cove, Karratha and Roebuck Bay, Broome. DON’T miss it! Who knows, I may see you there 
There are also Staircase markets which are held at Town Beach, Broome and if you are interested you can sample local fare, purchase crafts and delight in the many talented entertainers. It may be best to see your local visitor centre for more details.
