Barack Obama Elected 44th President of the United States

Barack Obama Elected 44th President of the United States

A historic election. Barack Obama wins as first African-American President. Would we have expected anything different, I wonder?

Countless days, countless hours the United States and the rest of the world have been anxiously waiting for the conclusion of the 44th President election to be ‘over’.

After earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, wars, financial catastrophes and terrorist attacks we for one reason or another good reason to rejoice in unison.

November 5th, 2008 the world has woken up to a new President of the United States. Barack has overwhelmingly been supported. He is said to represent change, commitment, responsibility, but most of all hope.

Barack Obama promised to be a leader for all. He promised to listen to all. Briefly, but profoundly and sincerely Obama began with his victory speech at about 12:00 am this morning. His speech was inspirational and motivational. It instilled a sense of pride in the citizens of the country and feelings of hope that was long lost. He directed his heartfelt thanks to the many people who voted for him.

Obama says, “change will come”. I don’t know about you, but I certainly hope he will live up to his promises!

Arsenic Soup For Lovers – The Darker Side of Human Nature

Arsenic Soup For Lovers – The Darker Side of Human Nature

Posted by Viola Woolcott

“Arsenic Soup for Lovers” is all else BUT heart-warming or inspirational. It is about infidelity – revenge – the desperate search for a spouse – deception – and yes, even murder.

It’s about the darker side of human nature. Arsenic Soup is tinged with humour. But you will find though that many of the stories aren’t funny.

If “Chicken Soup” doesn’t work, click on the link below and get your copy of:

“Arsenic Soup for Lovers“: by Georgia Z. Post

Arsenic Soup for Lovers is for you if you are seeking a quick read or yes, if you suffer from a broken heart and are seeking revenge.

For a sample read: click here: “Widow for Rent“

Personally I find it quite a funny read, but if I had the choice I prefer “Chicken Soup for the Soul”. What do you think?

Richard Gere and Julia Roberts in: Pretty Woman

Richard Gere and Julia Roberts in: Pretty Woman

Funny how things happen in life really, but I very rarely watch tv and on two occassions when I did, they showed “Pretty Woman” with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. Although I’m not a Richard Gere, neither a Julia Roberts fan, but I love the characters they play and how “Edward” changes for the better and in the end. What a man. I know, I’m an ‘old’ romantic, but this is one of my favs.

So if you haven’t watched it, now is the time. Just click on the link below to order the DVD.

Pretty Woman:

Here are some clips, but DON’T watch it if you haven’t seen it before, as it gives it all away.

Perception Defines and Shapes What We Experience

Perception Defines and Shapes What We Experience

It’s been a gorgeous day today with lots of sunshine and of course, one has to make the most of it while it lasts, so I accepted a lunch invite of my mate Jack. ;-)

After lunch we went outside in the garden to enjoy the sunshine. Over a coffee and like so many times before we got caught up in quite a LONG conversation about life.

Jack is easy to talk to, but conversations can be challenging as well as deep. We talked about perception before and have once again come to the conclusion that most people underestimate the power of perception.

Jack reminded me that it doesn’t matter where our external reality originates from. There are no excuses. What we are dealing with is our perception. Perception defines and shapes what we experience in every life situation. That we can change our thinking in a blink of an eye. We have choice. And all it takes is to make that choice and stay focused.

Remember:
You don’t see things as they are – You see things as you are, as you perceive them.

Financial Crises, Muscle Pain and SEX, SEX, SEX

Financial Crises, Muscle Pain and Sex, SEX, SEX

It’s become a common fact. Due to the financial crisis people suffer more and more from back, neck and/or shoulder pain. Pain specialists claim that exercise, talk and sex could bring tremendous relief.

The financial meltdown causes millions of people to suffer from muscle pain. The result of worry loosing their jobs, savings and sadly, their homes. The stress and tension of all this is causing major causes of the most common illnesses.

Tension, anxiety, worry, fear and even anger are the outcome and we all know that stress has a huge affect on our health. Among other things, tension and stress can cause pain beyond words. Pain so severe to impair you. Good news is, there are ways and strategies which help to reduce or relieve pain.

You need effective physical activities. Pent-up energy. Break a sweat. Go for a brisk walk. Try jogging. Get yourself a bike. A membership at the local swimming center. How about that long overdue gym workout? Be spoilt at your local Spa. Share your thoughts with someone you trust. And have SEX!! SEX!! SEX!! Well, that doesn’t only sound like the ‘best’ choice, but the most relaxing ;-)

Footnote:
Remember that every emotion corresponds with a different muscle and tension comes from unexpressed anxiety and of course the fears that come with it.

The Paradox of Our Age – the 14th Dalai Lama

The Paradox of Our Age – the 14th Dalai Lama

We have bigger houses but smaller families;
more conveniences, but less time.
We have more degrees but less sense;
more knowledge but less judgment;
more experts, but more problems;
more medicines but less healthiness.
We’ve been all the way to the moon and back,
but have trouble in crossing the street to meet our new neighbour.
We built more computers to hold more copies than ever,
But have less real communication;
We have become long on quantity,
but short on quality.
These are times of fast foods but slow digestion;
Tall men but short characters;
Steep profits but shallow relationships.
It’s a time when there is much in the window
But nothing in the room.
