Street Children in Kampala, Uganda – RETRAK

RETRAK is a registered UK Charity and works with street children in Africa

Retrak is a professional, Christian social work organisation. RETRAK aims to enable street children in Africa to realise their potential and discover their worth. RETRAK is getting street children back on course! The organisation is committed to helping street children to find long-term, sustainable alternatives to life on the streets. RETRAK is committed to reuniting children with their families wherever possible. If this is not possible RETRAK seeks to find foster families for ex-street children where they will find the love, security and support they have lacked.

At the heart of RETRAK is passion. Passion to see street children’s lives dramatically changed. Passion to see those who the World rejects become valued members of society. Passion to see children growing up in secure, loving, caring families and, in turn, to offer love and care to others. Passion to see children develop to their full potential emotionaly, psychologicaly and spiritualy.
RETRAK is a registered UK Charity and works with street children in Africa. This channel hosts films expressing the heart of RETRAK’s work in Uganda, Ethiopia and Kenya.

The Woodland Trust | UK’s Leading Charity

The Woodland Trust | UK’s Leading Charity

Woodland

The Woodland Trust was founded in 1972 and is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity. By acquiring sites and campaigning for woodland, they aim to conserve, restore and re-establish native woodland to its former glory. The Trust has grown to care and protect over 1,100 sites covering 19,000 hectares (47,000 acres). This includes nationally and internationally important sites as well as small urban and village woods. Nearly 350 of their sites contain ancient woodland, over 6,000 hectares, of which 70 per cent is Ancient semi-natural woodland – land which has never been cleared or replanted by man.

The Woodland Trust has created 3,200 hectares of new native woodland. Their Millennium Commission backed Woods on your Doorstep project has created 200 new community woods in England and Wales and 50 more in Northern Ireland and they are creating one of the largest broadleaved woods in Scotland at the 4087-hectare Glen Finglas Estate in the Trossachs. The Trust owns 20 sites covering 430 hectares (1060 acres) in the National Forest in the Midlands and have sites in all 12 Community Forests across England. In this way we are major contributors to projects which are improving the lives of millions of people.

The Woodland Trust also protects over 110 woodland Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), the UK’s finest examples of wildlife habitats.

Vision and Mission | Water Aid

Vision and Mission | Water Aid

Throughout the world children suffer greatly because they don’t have access to safe water and sanitation. Their health, education and family relationships are affected. WaterAid is an international charity dedicated to helping people escape the stranglehold of poverty and disease caused by living without safe water and sanitation.

WaterAid enables the world’s poorest people to gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education. These basic human rights underpin health, education and livelihoods and form the first, essential step in overcoming poverty.

WaterAid works with local partners, who understand local issues, and provide them with the skills and support to help communities set up and manage practical and sustainable projects that meet their real needs.

They also campaign locally and internationally to change policy and practice and ensure water and sanitation’s vital role in reducing poverty is recognised.

Steve Jobs | Getting Fired from Apple in 1985 | Life and Death

Steve Jobs | Getting Fired from Apple in 1985 | Life and Death

You may have already seen this, as this video has been around for quite sometime now, but in my opinion it is well worth watching even if you have seen it already.

In 2005 Steve Jobs delivers his commencement speech to the graduates of Stanford University. In it he talks about getting fired from Apple in 1985 and also about life & death.

His words really get me, every time. Very inspiring… motivating… touching…

At the time of my posting this video has been watched 1,054,590
