Spring sometimes happens at Easter

Spring sometimes happens at Easter

Easter is just around the corner and with it comes a special British Tradition. Thousands of people will make it to the garden centres to buy plants, only to return home, where they will stick them in the ground, planting hope and making wishes over them. And don’t we all wish for the same hoping that they keep alive for a few weeks.

Most make the same ‘mistake’. In our enthusiasm to get things growing, we pay to much attention to the calendar. Dates don’t really tell us anything. They don’t tell us what is really going on outside in REAL life. Easter really is no proof that spring has arrived.

It is better to ignore the calendar and before planting anything simply go outside and ask yourself if you feel that the days are actually warmer. Is the soil softer? Less water-logged? And is it more friable or does it still stick to your wellies? Sometimes it is better to listen to your inner voice, to your instincts and not to pay to much attention to the garden label.

Before the start of spring there will always most certainly be a calm, sunny day and sometimes it happens to be Easter. When you can “smell” changes in the air, that is when Spring is happening.

February 29th 2008, another Leapyear

February 29th 2008, another Leapyear

Here it is!! … FEBRUARY 29th… It’s a LEAP YEAR!! … an extra “BONUS” day in the year 2008 which gives us another chance to ‘catch up’ on something important. Something we been meaning to do and maybe put off to another day.

Well, I know what I be doing with my extra day today. ;-)

Did you know that most years that can be divided evenly by 4 are leap years?
Here is an example:
2008 divided by 4 = 502 >> Leap year!

But of course, as with most things, there IS an Exception!
Did you know that Century years are NOT leap years?
UNLESS of course they can be evenly divided by 400.
Here is an example:
1700, 1800, and 1900 were not leap years, but 1600 and 2000, which are divisible by 400.

Staircase To The Moon | Broome, Australia

Staircase To The Moon | Broome, Australia

Entry is FREE

BROOME, “STAIRCASE TO THE MOON”:
DATE: 4 March 2008 to 28 October 2008 Confirmed Event

Staircase to the Moon

This natural phenomenon is caused when the full moon rises over the exposed mudflats at extremely low tide. It creates an awesome optical illusion of a staircase reaching up to the moon.

Staircase to the moon occurs from March to October along the North West Coast. I believe that the best viewing spots are at Hearson Cove, Karratha and Roebuck Bay, Broome. DON’T miss it! Who knows, I may see you there ;-)

There are also Staircase markets which are held at Town Beach, Broome and if you are interested you can sample local fare, purchase crafts and delight in the many talented entertainers. It may be best to see your local visitor centre for more details.

Alegria, Cirque du Soleil

Alegria, Cirque du Soleil

Magic Fantastic Human World !!

Alegría is a mood, a state of mind. Be awed by a theatrical landscape, as an entire empire appears… dynamic stage and a captivating display of aerial acrobatics envelops the audience. The gravity-defying production by Cirque du Soleil takes adventure to an all new level.

A masterpiece in storytelling, using acrobatic performances, the thrills and action of martial arts techniques from all over the world, plus innovations in puppetry.

Fantastic performance… The artist reflect a free and careless world… full of surprises… full of beauty… breathtaking… impressive… putting you in a different dimension. Francesca Gagnon’s voice is beautiful…

I have not seen it myself yet, but I have been told you can’t beat being there live. So I am planning to go soon.

ALEGRIA – Cirque du Soleil

Songs: “Powertrack“, “Irna” and the middle song is called “Valsapena”.
