Urino Wine, Italy’s Best Kept Secret

Urino Wine, Italy’s Best Kept Secret

From the whispering mountains of Urino comes a pure, amber nectar… No matter if it comes from the Whispering Mountains or wherever, I think this is enough to make you stop drinking wine. Let me know if it is working ;-)

Urino Wine

… well, he looks like as if he is enjoying it… ;-)

We are Living in a Lying World

We are Living in a Lying World

Lets face it, we live in a lying world. There are so many people in the world that lie, its not even funny anymore. And what is even worse is, that the people who lie about the most ‘silly’ things and often make false claims, can’t even back up with some proof.

I don’t think that I am the only one who has fallen into this trap before. I guess we all have at some point in our lives. But then we all learn from our own mistakes and we make BIG strides in becoming better in knowing.

For my part, I believe honesty is the best policy… even if it hurts.

How about you? What’s your experience?

Rockie Mountains, here I come!

Rockie Mountains, here I come!

I am excited ;-) I have finally made up my mind that I AM going to Banff for a couple of days next week. I’d be silly if I didn’t while I am here.

I called a few places today from B&B’s to Inns, Lodges to Hotels. After careful consideration and some GOOD advice of Craig (the guy who adviced me), he suggested a Hotel in Banff close (walking distance) to town, where I can relax, where it is beautiful and where I would find some peace. Craig was very helpful and sympathetic when I told him about my accident, injuries and recovery. And as far as the peace, relaxation and beauty goes, I am also on my own, so he suggested to spoil myself to an executive suite with lounge, kitchen, balcony, open fire (which he will light) and of corse Mountain views. I am not even going to tell you the costs for these 2 nights. Even though he gave me a special price, it’s obscene. There is also a “Cave and Basin Hotpool area” in the hotel.

I can’t wait! ;-)

Energy Saving Tips

Energy Saving Tips

I am sure you know all that already, but just in case follow our Energy saving tips and save money.

>> Reduce your room temperatures by turning your thermostat down. 1°C could cut your heating bills by up to 10% and could save you as much as £40 per year.

>> If your water is to hot, turn your cylinder thermostat down. It should not need to be above 60°C/140°F.

>> By closing your curtains at dusk, you stop heat escaping through the windows.

>> When you leave the room, always turn off the lights.

>> Do not to leave appliances on charge unnecessarily and make sure your appliances are not on standby.

>> Most washing machines, tumble dryers and even dishwashers have a half-load/economy programme, so remember to use it if you are not filling your machine up.

>> When you boil water, make sure you are only boiling as much as you require, but if you are using an electric kettle, remember to cover the elements.

>> If your hot water tap is dripping, it wastes energy. In one week it wastes enough to fill half a hot bath. Fix leaking taps and remember to make sure they’re fully turned off.

>> Are you using energy saving light bulbs? The lifetime of one bulb can save you £60, as they last up to 10 times longer than any ordinary lightbulb.

Leave a comment if you’ve got any advice on how people can save energy.

Some Things Never Change!

Some Things Never Change!

I woke up this morning to another rainy day. The weather has been so bad and even worse in the neighbourhood areas. Even snow storms have been reported. I went out onto the Veranda to have my morning cup of herbal tea, but couldn’t even sit down as everything was dripping with water. Doreen says that the weather is like Monsoon without the heat.

I’m here a week today and have not done much but sit in the house, go for the odd drive and visit some people. Yesterday I went to the ‘Chinook’ indoor shopping center. It wasn’t as big as I thought and I didn’t buy much. Some Sandals, a lovely necklace for my daughter Kelly and a red Canadian hoody. Who would have thought that I would wear a hoody. Funny what you do when you are cold ;-)

RAIN, RAIN, RAIN – Would You Believe it?

RAIN, RAIN, RAIN – Would You Believe it?

What a disappointment. IT IS RAINING!!!!

So here I am sitting in my friends house waiting for good weather so that we can travel to the Rockies… If the weather doesn’t change, there is little point though (so she says), as there won’t be any visability… I am tired sitting here waiting. Till now I have not known what it means to be bored, but I tell you, after almost a weeks worth of waiting, believe me, I DO KNOW now what it means. And I do want to apologise if I have ever ‘judged’ you for saying you were bored. SORRY!!!

I think I need a holiday after this ;-)

Finally The Sun is Shining in Calgary

Finally The Sun is Shining in Calgary

I’m almost here a week now and am pleased to say that the sun is finally out after days and days of rain.

Today Doreen’s grandaughter Kate is here. She is almost 6 months old and we are having a ‘baby day’ with dirty nappies, bottles (and the rest of it). The pram is ready and waiting for taking Kate out for a walk. I am not sure where we are going to walk to, as wherever you go here in Calgary you need transport. Everything is miles and miles apart. Well, at least we won’t get wet ;-)

I didn’t sleep to well last night and am feeling quite tired, so some fresh air will be good. I still haven’t worked out what to do over the next couple of weeks, as I feel somehow restricted, as I am still using one of my crutches after the accident I have had in October last year. My ankle feels stiff today, which is probably due to sitting and waiting for better weather to come along. I cannot wait to go outside in the sunshine ;-)

Money As Debt

Money As Debt

“Money as Debt” tells you in a very simple and effective graphic term what money is and how it is being created. This video is an entertaining way to get the message out.

Very interesting that some of the biggest men in the U.S., in the field of commerce and manufacture, are afraid of something.

“They know that there is a power somewhere so organised, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it.”

* Woodrow Wilson,
former President of the United States

Money as Debt

“Each and every time a bank makes a loan, new bank credit is created – new deposits – brand new money.”

* Graham F. Towers
Governor, Bank of Canada, 1934-54
